If you haven't already guessed it, I am a bit of a paint junkie. While my stash is limited to about 7 or 8 colours I love getting messy on my layouts with paint. BUT, I finally went out and bought some GESSO. Have you used this before?
I have read about gesso heaps in magazInes as it is often used as a primer on board books, on canvas and wherever you want to add texture. I know that this product has been around for an age, but it is one of those things that I have just gotten round to. So this afternoon I got creating some ATCs for Swap Number 18 over on the forum. BTW, have you played along with our ATC swaps? There is a new one happening now run by LittleMissie and the theme is All about LOVE....
So, I slapped my gesso on the ATC chipboard thickly and combed it with an afro comb, you know like we had in the 80s. This was to create some wave texture. Then I placed a wooden stamp image in one corner. Threw some paint on roughly (after the gesso was dry) and voila. I have a base to use. I don't know that you will be able to see the texture in my pic but I took it anyway!
Can't show you the completed product yet - will send my cards off in a couple of days and will photograph after they have been distributed.
Probably the texture doesn't show up to much here, but you can get the general idea.
So - if you are into lumpy bumpy stuff and paint, give it a go.
LIanne, also showed me a great magazine today all about Art Journaling and in particular a really cool Scrapbooker - Dina Wakley. You can find her blog here:
