Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there.  The girls were sooo excited this morning not only to give their dad his pressies but most of all to make his special breakfast.  They made a menu, and on the menu we had ; Hot Cakes with a topping of fresh fruit and whipped cream and a sprinkle of icing sugar, and the second course was Bacon & Eggs fry up with mushrooms and tomatoes as a side dish, Abigail was the chef and Emma was the waitress.

The main course was Bacon & poached egg, and some mushrooms & fresh tomatoes.

On the scrapping front, have only done a little as I only got my computer back this week, it was completely fried and we had to re-format the whole thing, so a word of wisdom, download all those special photo's onto a disk, I luckily did a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't too upset, but it was awful not being able to on-line.

I completed Louise's on-line ARTY GRUNGE ON-LINE CLASS on Friday and am extremely pleased with the final result.  The instructions were soo easy to follow and it was good to have Louise there just to give us those extra tips, here is the final layout.

Thanks soo much to PHE (Heidi Bell) for running last week's QFC, it is really appreciated, and congrats to ANDREA FORD for being the winner, here is a sneak peak for Andrea's challenge which will go up next week Friday 12-09-08.

Crafters Workshop

If you are not very confident at doodling but like the effect, why not try out the new CRAFTER’S WORKSHOP Mini Doodle templates.  I have always loved the effect of doodling on a page, but find it really difficult to doodle because I just don’t have the free flow which doodling requires.  With the Doodle Templates, it easy to get that effect.  They can also be used as Templates to trace and then cut the designs out. 

In this month’s Design Kit, I received the Mini Peppy Paisley doodle template and created 2 cards, the first one “Celebrate”  I traced the paisley design onto Orange Bling Bazzill  in the different sizes and then cut them out  and placed them in a rotating way – afterwards I used the designs on the template to draw little flowers & circles on the cut of pieces as well as the main cardstock and of course added a touch of BLING on a couple of the flowers.

On the 2^nd card “Hello” I have used the same step however I have placed two different sizes   of the paisley’s to make a flower and only stuck the big paisley shapes down and then used the smaller ones as the center of my flower.  The brad in the middle are the new Bazzill Brads which are actually covered with Bazzill Cardstock, so you can doodle on them as well.

The other goodies I received in my kit, were some bright & vibrant papers from Sandylion, as well as the Collections chipboard Houses.  Abigail loves going into the city especially at night, so I decided to try and create a skyline effect using the Collection Chipboard houses, which I have inked in black, painted in Silver and on some of them covered them with the patterned paper and then lightly coated  with a silver paint dabber, once all dry I doodled some windows and added some Kindy Glitz to them to make it look like the lights are on.  I have also added some the Bazzill Brads to the inner circles of the Sandylion paper to create a little dimension. 

Remember to set some time aside next weekend, as our next Quick Fire Challenge set by Heidi Bell (AKA PHER) on forum will be setting this week’s challenge and it is a really really fun one, here is a little sneak peak – remember to keep watch on the forum for some more sneak peak’s.

Hi there Girls....

Hi Girls, I’m Heidi also known as “Scrapchick” on the forum. I am 39 years old, married to Richard - my childhood sweetheart for 17 years and we have two girls (Abigail & Emma), we have a Jack Russel called Tyson and a cat called SHUMBA.  We immirgrated from South Africa in 2000, and really love our new home.

I first started scrapbooking in July 2005, after our annual trip to the snow for my husband's birthday. The day we came home, I printed the pictures off and headed off to the warehouse for a couple of scrapbooking goodies, and I was away. I remember going to Spotlight and wandering through their scrapbooking stuff, and I was looking for punches because I thought that’s what it was all about, then I went on-line to see what was out there, and WOW was I stunned, I couldn't believe there were actual shops which specialized in scrapbooking. I took a couple of courses at Arty Farty the local scrapbook shop, and purchased my first cutter from SCRAPBOOK STUDIO in the old shop.   From there I joined a couple of on-line forums and got to know Kelly - it was Kelly who introduced me to Lisa, as she had bought stuff from Lisa off Trade Me. Lisa always has the latest YUMMY products...  It was on one of the on-line forums that Kelly & I realised we lived in the same street, and have since become good friends. It is always good to have someone nearby when your MOJO has gone, just to sit and talk about scrapping things – ideas and then your MOJO comes back pretty quickly.

I mainly scrapbook our vacations, and our girls, my darling husband has asked me not to publish him on-line, so it's not that I don't scrap him because I do I just don't put them up in the gallery.   Since I started scrapping, I really enjoy photography and have changed the way I take photo's now, thinking of light, shadows and layouts in mind.

My style of scrapping has definitely changed, I think my style is really plain & simple and I love black & white with lots of bursts of colour, so you will often find my layouts always have black or white or both in them.

I think my favorite layout is this one (Shopping Queen) not only because of the photo, but I have used many different elements all on one page, I love using transparencies, and putting rubons onto transparencies so I can pop dot them foam to raise them a little. I like a lot of clean space on my layouts, as well as dimension. I also like making my own embellishments and cutting pattern papers out to use as embellishments so everything matches.

I would have to say Nic Howard’s toward is truly inspiring, the detail on her layouts is fabulous and always flows so nicely. Other people whom I admire are Lesley Cooper and our very own Louise Williams.
